On June 21, 2025, we hosted our first Halal Speed Dating event in Houston, and it was an incredible experience. Over 100 Muslim singles attended, each with the sincere intention of finding a compatible partner in a halal, respectful, and faith-centered environment.
The event took place at the Garage in Houston to ensure comfort, privacy, and adherence to Islamic values. What stood out most was the genuine energy in the room; people weren’t just meeting casually; they were meeting with purpose. Seeing these authentic interactions reminded us once again why we built Proposal: to make it easier for Muslims to meet, connect, and build lasting relationships guided by faith.
As we continue to expand, one of our most meaningful initiatives is the Masjid Matchmaking Program, a feature where we partner with masajid to help them facilitate matchmaking for their communities. Through this program, Proposal manages the online matchmaking process on behalf of each masjid, while allowing their imams and community leaders to maintain oversight and involvement in a trusted, transparent way.
Our goal is to make it easy for mosques to offer professional, faith-based matchmaking services without needing to build their own digital systems. By combining our technology with their community leadership, we’re helping masajid connect singles safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with Islamic principles.
Beyond helping singles meet, Proposal also supports couples in planning their weddings. Through our Wedding Planning feature, users can discover verified Muslim-friendly vendors, including venues, photographers, halal caterers, and décor experts. Our vision is to provide a seamless journey — from “match” to “marriage” — all within one faith-conscious ecosystem.
As we move forward, I’m thrilled to share that Proposal 2.0 is on its way. This next version of our app will combine AI-driven compatibility with human matchmaker review, ensuring that every recommendation is both data-informed and spiritually aligned.
The new system also integrates the Big 5 Personality Test, helping users gain a deeper understanding of themselves, while our AI suggests compatible matches based on personality, lifestyle, and Islamic values. Each suggested a human matchmaker reviews a pairing to preserve the empathy, context, and authenticity that technology alone can’t replicate.
Our Houston event reaffirmed the need for real, halal, and intentional spaces for Muslims seeking marriage. With our Masjid Matchmaking initiative, Wedding Planning tools, and the upcoming Proposal 2.0, we’re building more than an app; we’re creating a faith-driven community dedicated to helping Muslims meet and marry with purpose.
